Vermontville Township Tax Information

The Vermontville Township Treasurer's Office mails approximately 1,300 tax statements each year. Informational tax statements are mailed to homeowners who have a mortgage company paying their taxes. If your tax payment is made by mail, you will receive a receipt by return mail.

 

Current tax information is available online at: Vermontville Township Internet Services. Residents may look up their taxes at no charge. A $2 fee is required if looking up information on property not owned by the user.

Tax payments may be made in person at the Vermontville Township Office, 120 E. First Street.  A locked drop box is also located outside of the township office for your convenience. Do not use cash if using the drop box.

 

Tax payments are also accepted at the Vermontville Branch of Independent Bank. A copy of your tax bill must accompany any payment made at Independent Bank.

 

Summer Taxes

 

Summer Taxes are due July 1st and payable July 1st – September 14th without interest. The tax statements, which are mailed out in June, are called the summer and/or school taxes. The school taxes are billed on the July statement. Beginning in 2003 the State Education portion of your taxes is billed 100% on the summer tax statement. The County Operating portion of your taxes is billed on the summer statement. July taxes become a lien on the property on July 1st and are subject to interest on payments received after September 14th.

 

Winter Taxes

 

Winter taxes are due December 1st and payable December 1st through February 14th without penalty. The tax statements, which are mailed out in November, are called the winter and/or December taxes. December taxes become a lien on the property on December 1st and are subject to penalty on payments received after February 14th.

Vermontville Opera House Available for Rent

The Vermontville Opera House is available to rent for Graduations, Weddings, Reunions, Luncheons, Parties, etc.

 

Charges are as follows:

  • Vermontville Township Residents: 
    • $75.00 per day
    • $100.00 cleaning deposit, to be paid at the time of rental
    • $25.00 use for kitchen with rental
    • $10.00 for each additional hour
    • Hourly rate $25.00 for two hours/minimum + $10.00 for each additional hour
  • Non-Residents:  
    • $150.00 per day
    • $200.00 cleaning deposit, to be paid at the time of rental
    • $50.00 use for kitchen with rental
    • $20.00 for each additional hour
    • Hourly rate $50.00 for two hours/minimum + $20.00 for each additional hour

Cleaning deposits will be returned within 7 days after satisfactory inspection by Vermontville Building and Grounds personnel.

 

Maximum capacity of the Opera House is 300 people using the following guidelines:

Use of alcohol is permitted ONLY when renter assumes total responsibility and liability for any and all occurrences or accidents and agrees to hold harmless the Township of Vermontville.  In the case in which alcohol is provided without charge the renter must supply a certificate of insurance verifying host liquor liability insurance.  If alcohol is to be provided on a fee basis the renter must supply a policy naming the Township of Vermontville as additional insured in addition to a liquor license from the State of Michigan.  Renter also agrees not to serve alcohol to anyone less than 21 years of age.
